Group Yoga Classes

DEVPRAYAG YOGA-1
A therapeutic Yoga class designed to recharge and relax the entire body, leading to an enhanced state of mental clarity and calmness. Based on Paramhansa Yogananda’s Yogoda principles, this class is scientifically designed to activate energy throughout the body and bring that energy inward and upward in the spine. This leads to a deeper, more expansive meditation and an overall sense of well-being. Loosely translated, Yogoda means “that which brings union,” and the union we speak of is between you and your highest self. This class is appropriate for all levels and abilities and includes detailed instruction throughout the session.

DEVPRAYAG YOGA-2
This class is an extension of the concepts presented in DevPrayag Yoga-1, with a greater emphasis on the internal journey and less so on physical instruction. Although this class is appropriate for all levels and abilities, it would help to attend the Yoga-1 class to familiarize yourself with certain aspects of the routine that may be new to you, such as Yogananda’s Yogoda exercises, which are an important part of both classes. This session is a great opportunity to apply these teachings on a deeper, more personal level, since the focus will be more on the internal experience.

YOGA THERAPY FOR THE HEART
Utilizing the latest research on heart health, this session is designed to strengthen the heart physically, energetically and emotionally. Since the heart interacts with the entire body, we use Yogoda exercises, asanas and pranayama to activate energy throughout our entire system. We then will focus that energy on the heart, enhancing not only its’ physical well-being, but also creating a sense of upliftment and expansiveness. In addition to the physical benefits, moving energy upward in the heart increases one’s sense of gratitude, compassion and gives us a better sense of what unconditional love truly is.

YOGA THERAPY FOR OSTEOPOROSIS/OSTEOPENIA
This class is designed for those who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia, as well as those who are at risk of developing those conditions. Research has shown that a properly designed yoga class, practiced regularly, can greatly decrease the degradation of bones and, in certain cases, has actually reversed the course of the disease, resulting in stronger, healthier hones. This therapeutic session utilizes the latest research on bone strength and is led by a certified Yoga Therapist who can help you integrate these techniques into your daily life.

RESTORATIVE YOGA
Over the past decade, restorative yoga has been the most widely researched form of yoga by a wide margin. The reason is that the results have been so promising and it can be utilized by almost anyone, regardless of their experience or current health. This extra gentle form of yoga has proven to not just be relaxing, but to also energize the entire body. It achieves these seemingly opposite benefits by enhancing the body’s natural ability to be calm, which in turn leads to a healthier, more efficient, energetic system. It takes a great deal of energy to push thoughts, ideas and actions through a body that is chronically stressed. By calming the entire body, we are able to function more efficiently, utilizing much less energy than we normally would. Restorative yoga activates our parasympathetic nervous system, creating a sense of relaxation and well-being. It is in this state that our bodies and minds can operate most efficiently, leading to healthier and happier lives.
